We have many positions in the row packing ( caviar ) and cannery and it is less physical so the women do the best at this. Brief job description: fish sliming, gutting, racking, freezing and Boxing. Canning, cutting and processing Salmon fish for the Cannery. Processing Caviar, processing fish meal. Must be available to work until seasonal layoff as late as September 7, 2012. Must be 18 years of age or older. Able to work with seafood including various types of fish and shellfish. Male workers: able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the work shift. Able to follow directions and adhere to work rules. Able to work well with others and live harmoniously with room-mates and others of diverse backgrounds in a confined area. Prompt, reliable and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job. Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. As far as the work, it is very hard and can at times be a lot of hours. Students who want to work at American restaurants or theme parks generally do not do well here as it is physically hard and mentally challenging at times. We do have fun and the students get a very good cultural experience here as well. Salary $7.75 for straight time, 11.63 for overtime. Hours are not guaranteed, overtime is not guaranteed. If we have a lot of fish we have work many many fish = overtime but again not guaranteed but when we have fish they should be able to work repetitively with hands, wrists and elbows while standing for up to 12 hours per day seven days a week if necessary.
